Welcome to the class blog and I am excited for the upcoming 2012-2013 year! It was great meeting the parents at Back-to-School Night, and I hope the information was helpful. The class is in full swing with learning the procedures and completing their work. In the first few weeks, the class has been learning about life sciences with planting sunflower seeds. We are also enjoying out reading group rotations with our aide and learning concepts of print with our readers! We also just did a fun painting project with our 8th grade buddies! Please refer to this site for more photo postings of the fun things we do this year.

The Kindergarten class had an amazing time on their field trip! We explored the La Brea Tar Pits, saw Ice Age fossils, and had lunch in the park. Then we spent an hour at the LACMA museum, where we saw art works the connected to things we did in class. This includes still life paintings, portraits, and pictures of the Last Supper. What an enriching experience!
Wednesday
EASTER EGG HUNT
The day before Easter break the class enjoyed an Easter egg hunt in the garden. We all had a wonderful time and the class had great participation! During the Lenten season the class learned about why the Easter Egg is a symbol of Easter and represents New Life!
BUTTERFLY LIFE CYCLE

Every Spring the class studies the butterfly life cycle. This covers topics in science. We also relate how butterflies emerging from their chrysalids are also a symbol of New Life.
CLASS FUN
Every Wednesday the class has Bingo before lunch!
Tuesday
The classroom is ready for Open House! It was great seeing current and prospective parents that day.

For Career Day, the class had various professionals visit the class and do a presentation on their jobs. We had police officers, firemen, librarians, and more!

The class learns using the SMARTboard and manipulatives to enhance math concepts.
